Kendall spikers down Lyndonville
Highlighted by an overtime win in the second set, Kendall posted a 25-19, 26-24, 25-23 victory over host Lyndonville this evening in a Genesee Region League volleyball match.
An early run of six straight service points by Shelby Kruger (7-12) helped spark Kendall to the opening set win as Lauren Pilon and Sara Mattle each chipped in with a pair of spiking kills.
Trailing 24-20 in the second set, Kendall came battling back to claim the overtime win as Taigan Guerrero served up points 21-26. That key rally also included kills by Karlee Robb and Pilon as Robb also had a block for the game winning point.
Lyndonville had built up as much as a 19-12 lead as Cianna Button served up points 10-16.
The host Lady Tigers also built up leads of 18-15 and 21-19 in the third set as Lorelei Dillenbeck served up points 15-18, including three aces, and Gracie Johnson points 20 and 21.
However, Kendall again came battling back to claim the win and the match. Mattle served up points 21-22 and Guerrero 24 as Pilon registered a kill for the set winner. Robb also had a kill for the tying point 21 and Mattle followed up with an ace for the go ahead point 22.
Robb and Shonitsky each finished with 7 kills and Pilon 6.
Lyndonville next visits Alexander and Kendall hosts Elba on Wednesday.
Akron 25-25-25, Newfane 18-9-15
Defending co-champion Akron improved its Niagara-Orleans League record to 5-0 with a 25-18, 25-9, 25-15 victory over Newfane.
Ella Hill had 10 kills and 4 aces, Sydney Hall 8 kills and 4 aces and Jessee Jonathan 6 aces and 24 assists for Akron.
