Kendall softball squad has a very busy week at Disney
It was a very busy week for the Kendall High softball team which has played four games and four scrimmages over the past six days at the Disney Complex in Orlando, Fllorida.
“It was a busy week but it was a great experience,” said Kendall Coach Jeff Parizek. “We played some great competition and it was a great learning experience. Overall it was a great week.”
Kendall wrapped up its busy schedule this afternoon dropping a 12-2 decision to Monroe High, of Wisconsin which captured its state class title last year.
Kendall scored once in the second inning on a single by Kacey Menge and a fielders choice play off the bat of Shauna Ricker and once in the sixth on a fielders choice play off the bat of Olivia Welch after singles by Kari Hurlbutt, Chelsea Wright and Taylor Kingsbury had loaded the bases.
In their opening game at Disney, the Lady Eagles lost 14-1 to Whitney Young High of Chicago.
Olivia Welch, Maria Albanese and Menge each had a hit for Kendall.
Kendall then dropped a wild 15-12 decision to New York state foe Byram Hills which rallied from an early 7-3 decision with a huge inning of nine runs on seven errors.
Welch, Kingsbury, Hurlbutt, Nicole Browe and Sarah Gardner each had two hits for the Lady Eagles. Welch, whose hits included a double, drove in four runs and Kingsbury two.
Kendall also lost 7-1 to Jefferson High of Wisconsin.
Hurlbutt had two hits and Wright one for the Lady Eagles.
Kendall’s four scrimmages were against New York state foe John Jay-Cross River and three out of state opponents.
