Four runs over the first two innings proved to be more than enough as No. 4 seed Kendall blanked visiting No. 5 Alexander 4-0 this afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Section V Class C2 baseball playoffs.

Kendall took a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning on a groundout off the bat of Louis Conte as leadoff singles by Vinnie D’Agostino and Jonny Conte set up the threat.

The Eagles quickly tacked on three more big runs in the second inning on RBI singles by Vinnie D’Agostino and Jonny Conte and a wild pitch.

Gavin Braun pitched the first four innings for the Eagles allowing 2 hits and striking out 4. Nic Cole came on to hurl the final three frames giving up 1 hit and fanning 5.

Defensively, the Eagles came up with a big 7-5-2 double play from CJ Agostino in left to Vinnie D’Agostino at third to Colby Hughes at catcher to keep Alexander off the scoreboard in the third inning.

Kendall next faces top seeded Bolivar-Richburg in the C2 semifinals on Thursday. Bolivar-Richburg ousted No. 9 Cuba-Rushford 8-1.

Kendall’s Vinnie D’Agostino steals third base before Alexander’s Nicholas Marzolf can get the ball.
