Kendall girls nip Lyndonville/Barker in OT

In a sea-saw battle, Kendall edged Lyndonville/Barker 3-2 in double overtime this afternoon in a Genesee Region League girls soccer game at Lyndonville.

Ava Quintern, who accounted for all three of Kendall’s goals, netted the game winner on a breakaway with five minutes to go in the second 10 minute overtime period.

Quintern also gave Kendall a lightning quick 1-0 lead when she scored just a minute and a half into the first half.

Lyndonville/Barker answered back on a penalty kick goal by Kayli Miller with 19:30 to go in the first half which ended deadlocked at 1-1.

Kendall regained a 2-1 lead when Quintern scored at 26:40 of the second half but again Lyndonville/Barker came battling back to tie.

This time Elizabeth Whipple scored off an assist from Addison Dillenbeck with 12:05 remaining in regulation time.

Neither team could score in the first 10 minute overtime period as Lyndonville/Barker goalie Alexis Dauphinee made a huge save in the final seconds. She also made a big save early in the second OT on a shot off the post to keep the contest even.

That set the stage for Quintern’s deciding goal on a breakaway as Kendall improves to 1-1 in the league and 3-1 overall.

Lyndonville/Barker is now 0-2, 1-2.

Lockport Tournament
The host Lady Lions downed Roy-Hart 4-2 this afternoon in the championship game of the Lockport Tournament.

Kaitlyn Mettler scored both goals for Roy-Hart, one in each half.

Roy-Hart advanced to the finals by outlasting Starpoint 5-4 in a shootout Friday as Grace Trombley scored the game winning goal.
