Kendall girls nip Lyndonville/Barker in OT
In a sea-saw battle, Kendall edged Lyndonville/Barker 3-2 in double overtime this afternoon in a Genesee Region League girls soccer game at Lyndonville.
Ava Quintern, who accounted for all three of Kendall’s goals, netted the game winner on a breakaway with five minutes to go in the second 10 minute overtime period.
Quintern also gave Kendall a lightning quick 1-0 lead when she scored just a minute and a half into the first half.
Lyndonville/Barker answered back on a penalty kick goal by Kayli Miller with 19:30 to go in the first half which ended deadlocked at 1-1.
Kendall regained a 2-1 lead when Quintern scored at 26:40 of the second half but again Lyndonville/Barker came battling back to tie.
This time Elizabeth Whipple scored off an assist from Addison Dillenbeck with 12:05 remaining in regulation time.
Neither team could score in the first 10 minute overtime period as Lyndonville/Barker goalie Alexis Dauphinee made a huge save in the final seconds. She also made a big save early in the second OT on a shot off the post to keep the contest even.
That set the stage for Quintern’s deciding goal on a breakaway as Kendall improves to 1-1 in the league and 3-1 overall.
Lyndonville/Barker is now 0-2, 1-2.
