Kendall girls top Cal-Mum in C2 opener

Scoring a goal in each half No. 7 seed Kendall blanked visiting No. 10 Caledonia-Mumford 2-0 this afternoon in the pre quarterfinal round of the Section V Class C2 girls soccer playoffs.

Brianna Wakefield scored what proved to be the game winning goal for Kendall on a line drive shot from straight away with 6:43 to go in the first half. Madison Jacob earned the assist on what was Wakefield’s team leading 10th goal of the season.

Grace Levett later added a big insurance goal 11 minutes into the second half off an assist from Regan VanDusen. It was her fourth goal of the campaign.

Kailie Regan made five saves to earn the shutout in goal for the Lady Eagles.

Improving to 8-5-1, Kendall next visits No. 2 seed Byron-Bergen at 6 p.m. Friday. Kendall split a pair of 1-0 games with Byron-Bergen during the Genesee Region League season.
