Kendall girls retain G-R Div. 1 soccer title

Kendall edged past host Alexander 2-1 Saturday to lock up a second straight Genesee Region League Division 1 girls soccer championship.

Taylor ReQua scored both goals for Kendall which improves to 11-1-1 in the league and 12-1-1 overall.

Kendall jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first half as ReQua scored off an assist from Emily Boyle.

Alexander did knot the score before halftime on a tally by Stephanie McBride off a direct kick.

However, Kendall regained the lead for good when ReQua scored her 10th goal of the season with just six minutes remaining in the second half off an assist from Elizabeth Rath, to clinch the division title.

Kendall will close out the G-R season by hosting Pembroke on Tuesday and visiting rival Holley on Thursday.

Akron 5, Roy-Hart 1
Akron improved to 10-2-1 in Niagara-Orleans League competition by defeating host Roy-Hart 5-1 on Saturday.

Cailin Regan had three goals and one assist, Erica Papke two goals and Katie Apholz two assists to lead the way for Akron.

Amber Villella scored the lone goal for Roy-Hart which slips to 5-8.
