Kendall girls advance to Class D1 semifinals

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Kayla Summers scored the game winning goal for Kendall in today’s sectional win over Northstar.

Scoring a goal in each half, No. 5 seed Kendall blanked host No. 4 Northstar 2-0 this afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Section V Class D1 girls soccer playoffs.

Kayla Summers and Hailee Mitchell each scored their third goal of the season to provide the offense for the Lady Eagles while Hannah Ulmen made 3 saves in goal to earn the shutout.

Summers scored what proved to be the game winner 13 minutes into the first half off an assist from Taylor ReQua.

Mitchell then tacked on an insurance goal just 10 minutes later off a corner kick by ReQua.

Kendall, which is now 13-5, will next face the winner of the No. 1 Wheatland-Chili vs. No. 9 Naples semi in the semifinals on Wednesday.

Section VI
Class B1
Niagara-Orleans League champion No. 3 seed Newfane blanked No. 7 Alden 5-0 in the Section VI Class B1 semifinals at Williamsville North as Kayleigh Daniels had 3 goals and Emily Foltz and Adelyn Burns 1 each.

Class B2
No. 5 Wilson defeated top seeded Tonawanda 4-1 in the Class B2 semis at Williamsville North as Kayla Neumann scored the last two clinching goals.
