Kendall earns split in 17U diamond twin bill

Rebounding from a narrow 6-5 loss in the opener, Kendall downed host Fairport 11-5 in the nightcap of a 17U baseball doubleheader Sunday.

Kendall quickly moved on top to stay in the second game as a two-run triple by winning pitcher Louis Conte highlighted a three-run first inning.

Kendall added four runs in the third to open up an 8-0 advantage as Conte, CJ D’Agostino and Jonas Rhodes each had an RBI single.

A three-run fourth inning highlighted by a two-run single by Jimmie Swift then put a lock on the win.

Conte, who had a total of 3 hits, scattered 6 hits and struck out 3 on the mound.

In the opener, it was Fairport that quickly took the lead for good by scoring three runs in the first inning on three walks and a pair of singles.

Kendall rallied back to within one three times at 3-2, 4-3 and 6-5 but could not pull even.

D’Agostino, Swift and Jonny Conte each had two hits and Nate Shaw a two-run double for Kendall.
