Completing a perfect 3-0 opening week, Kendall trimmed rival Holley 40-35 this afternoon in the championship game of the Lady Eagles Tournament.

Danielle Offhaus scored 10 and Alea Barrett 9 to lead Kendall as Addison Kludt added 6 and Ava LaMay, Brooke Rodas and Lia Larson 5 each.

Alivia Wolf took game high scoring honors with 17 and Samantha Bates added 11 to pace Holley as Emma Brady and Jailyn Bishop both had 3 and Zoey Wolf 1.

Holley jumped out to a 15-11 first quarter lead as Alivia Wolf and Bates both hit a pair of threes.

However, the Lady Hawks did not score again from the field until midway through the third quarter.

Kendall took advantage of that drought by rallying into a 25-17 half-time advantage as Kludt and Rodas both hit threes and LaMay had a pair of baskets to key the Lady Eagles big 14-2 second period scoring edge.

Back-to-back baskets by Offhaus upped the Kendall lead to 11 early in the third quarter but Holley rebounded to close the period with a 9-0 run and cut the deficit to just two, 29-27, at the three-quarter mark. Wolf had a three and a two and Bates a basket to lead that rally.

The Lady Hawks though could get no closer as Barrett hit two huge threes to open the final period and give Kendall a little breathing room at 35-27.

Two threes by Alivia Wolf, along with a pair of free throws by Bates, did pull Holley back to within two at 37-35 with 2:50 remaining but the Lady Hawks could not score again.

Kendall finally put a lock on the win on two free throws by Rodas and one by Larson.

Holley’s Samantha Bates puts up a shot as Lia Larson and Ava LaMay (11) defend for Kendall.
