Kendall ‘9’ splits twin bill with Byron-Bergen

Kendall split with host Byron-Bergen today in a Genesee Region League baseball doubleheader.

Kendall won the opener 11-0 in five innings and Byron-Bergen took the second contest 7-6 in nine innings.

Mickey Gardner hit a three run homer in the fourth inning and Mason Kuhn had a pair of hits for Kendall in the opener.

John Rath picked up the win on the mound allowing 2 hits and striking out 2.

In the second game, Kendall rallied into a 5-5 tie in the top of the seventh inning on a two run single by Rath.

The Eagles then took a 6-5 lead in the top of the ninth as Brian Shaw doubled and came home on an error.

However, Byron-Bergen pulled out the win by scoring twice in the bottom of the ninth on two singles and a double by Nick Baubie.

Earlier in the game, Kendall took a 3-2 lead on a two-run double by Hunter Menze in the fourth inning.

Kendall next visits Lyndonville at 3 p.m. Sunday to complete a suspended contest.
