The Medina JV football team rebounded in a big way after dropping the season opener to Burgard last week, as the Mustangs were able to defeat Tonawanda 58-20 this morning.

Quarterback Brian Fry led the Mustangs offensive attack by throwing five touchdowns and adding another on the ground.

Three of Fry’s touchdown passes went to Tyler Chinn, while the other two were receptions by Jarin Rhim and Emmanual Taylor.

Fry finished the day 13 of 18 passing for 264 yards. Taylor totaled 118 receiving yards, Chinn 90, and Rhim 75.

The Mustangs rushing attack was also potent as Amir Barulich and Bobby Geiger each added a rushing touchdown, and the team rolled up 152 yards on the ground.

Defensively the Mustangs were able to force four turnovers. Barulich came up with 2 interceptions, while Nathan Neace and Dontea Rhim each recovered a fumble.

Fry was also the leading tackler for the Mustangs with 8 tackles.

The JV squad will next be in action on Saturday at Newfane in a big matchup. The Panthers are also 1-1 on the season after posting a 42-6 victory over Lew-Port this morning.
