Jr. Wilson scores twin bill sweep

Jr. Wilson’s swept a doubleheader victory Monday night to improve to .500 in the Medina Women’s Softball ‘A’ League, beating Orleans Vets 7-2 in the first game, and besting O’Brien’s 16-0 in the nightcap.

A double by Randi Scholes and singles by Jen Knaak and Ashlee Salisbury put Orleans Vets ahead 2-0 in the first.

After a lead-off single from Michele Crandall in the second inning, Jr. Wilson’s capitalized on a string of walks to put them ahead  for good at 4-2. Sami Johnson belted a three-run double in the fifth to add to Jr. Wilson’s lead.

In the second game, Jr. Wilson’s erupted for 6 runs in the first inning on 6 six hits, including singles from Alexis Williams, Nicole Guild, and Jodi Zacher.

Johnson came through again with a bases clearing triple in the fifth to lock up the win.

On the night, Johnson finished with 4 hits and 6 RBIs, while Zacher had 6 hits, including 2 doubles.

Jr. Wilson’s 1 is now 4-4 on the season.
