Jr. Wilson II sweeps twin bill in Medina Women’s Softball League ‘B’ Division

Improving to 5-1, Jr. Wilson II swept to a doubleheader victory over East Center Street Stop-n-Shop Monday evening by scores of 13-9 and 8-4 in Medina Women’s Softball League ‘B’ Division action.

Laura Valley had three hits and Audrey Schalck, Jenn Thom, Audrey Woodruff, Rachel Preston, Marie Brockway and Nicki Dresser each added two hits for Jr. Wilson II’s balanced attack in the first game. Valley, Thom, Preston and Brockway all had doubles among their hits.

Jr. Wilson II broke the game open early by erupting for eight runs in the second inning on eight hits including a double by Valley and two singles by Woodruff.

Keeping the momentum, Jr. Wilson II used three run scoring bursts in both the third and fifth innings to key the 8-4 win in the second game.

Betsy Schoolcraft and Julie Tette both had three hits for Jr. Wilson II as Pam Maryjanowski and Preston each added two. Tette’s hits included a double.

‘A ‘Division

Banes 16, Shortyz 4

Banes Plumbing/Banes Machine Shop boosted its ‘A’ Dvision record to 3-1 with a 16-4 victory over Shortyz on Monday evening.

Connie Heschke and Kathy Allen both had five hits to lead the Banes attack as Sue Seefeldt added four and Taylor Piskorowski three. Allen’s hits included a double and triple and Heschke’s a double.

Banes put a lock on the win by erupting for eight runs in the fifth inning on a double by Allen and singles by Danielle Erway, Patti Page, Piskorowski, Jessica Carpenter, Alisha Foss, Heschke, Seefeldt, Jamie Chatt and Jenn Masse.

At the halfway point of the season the standings for the two divisions are as follows.

‘A’ Division: Orleans Vets 4-1, Banes 3-1, Froman Ink 3-2, Just Us/O’Brien’s 3-2, Jr. Wilson I 1-3, Shortyz 0-4.

‘B’ Division: Albion Vets 6-0, Jr. Wilson II 5-1, Orchard Manor 5-3, Hojack’s 3-2, Zambito Realtors 3-2, Erin Townsend Photography 2-4, East Center Street Stop-n-Shop 0-6.
