Jr. Wilson 1, Banes split twin bill

In a pair of low scoring, one run decisions, Jr. Wilson 1 and Banes split a doubleheader Monday evening in Medina Women’s Softball League action.

Jr. Wilson took the opener 2-1 and Banes rebounded to take the nightcap 4-3.

In the first game, Jr. Wilson scored once in the fourth inning on doubles by Jodi Zacher and Sara Flansburg. A double by Michelle Crandall then set up what proved to be the game winner in the fifth frame. Zacher had 2 hits in the contest.

Kathy Allen, Alisha Foss and Kathy Quackenbush each had 2 hits for Banes whose only run came in the fourth on a double by Allen.

Rebounding, Banes took the second game as Quackenbush had 3 hits and Kristin Guild 2 to lead the offense.

Snapping a 3-3 tie, Banes scored the game winner in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Guild. An error followed by singles by Jen Masse and Allen set up the opportunity.

Banes also scored once in the third on singles by Connie Heschke, Sue Seefeldt and Masse and twice in the sixth on singles by Guild, Quackenbush, Donna Bane and Heschke.

Jr. Wilson had ted the game with a run in the top of the seventh as Crandall and Bri Gillette had hits.

Gillette had a total of 3 hits and Zacher 2.
