Jr Wilson and Medina Vets score wins to open Women’s Softball ‘A’ Division playoffs

Medina Women’s Softball League playoff action got underway on Monday evening as Jr. Wilson and Medina Vets scored ‘A’ Division wins at Jr. Wilson.

No. 3 seed Jr. Wilson rallied to edge No. 6 NYSCOBA 10-8 and No. 4 Medina Vets nipped No. 5 Tats & Bats 8-7 in eight innings.

Medina Vets will now face top seeded Banes Machine Shop/Banes Plumbing and Jr. Wilson will take on No. 2 Orleans Vets when playoff action resumes at 8 a.m. Saturday at Jr. Wilson.

NYSCOBA jumped out to a big early lead by scoring 2 runs in the first and 6 runs in the second but wouldn’t score again

Jr Wilson scored once in the second inning and then got back in the game by tallying five times in the fourth on singles by Jess Rosenbeck, Jodi Zacher, Amber Pratt, Michelle Crandall, Bri Guzdek, Sharon Korzelius, Molley Huber

Jr Wilson then moved on top by scoring  4 in the fifth frame on singles by Connie Hornquist, Crandall, Guzdek and a double by Zacher.

Medina Vets 8  Tats & Bats 7 (8)
Tats built up a 7-1 lead by scoring three times in both the first and second innings and once in the fifth.

However, Medina Vets battled back to knot the contest at 7-7 by tallying twice in the fifth, once in the sixth and then twice in the seventh  on a single by Jenny Arnett and a two-run homer run by Casey Flynn.

Medina Vets then pulled out the win by scoring once in the eighth on singles by Ashley Stawicki, Courtney Burdick and an RBI single by Von Wilson.

‘B’ Division

In the opening round of the ‘B’ Division playoffs, No. 3 HoJacks defeated No. 6 Cusimano’s 38-9 and No. 4 Team Monte edged No. 5 Buffalo Bio Diesel 12-11.

HoJacks and Team Monte advance to the next round on Saturday morning at Butts Park.
