Jr. Wilson 1, Orleans Vets score wins

Medina Women’s Softball League action

Jr. Wilson 1 defeated Albion Vets 17-7 and Orleans Vets downed Banes 6-3 in Medina Women’s Softball ‘A’ League action Monday evening.

Kaitlyn Miller had 4 hits and Jessica Rosenbeck, Jodi Zacher and Nicole Cree 3 each to lead the offense for Jr. Wilson 1. Zacher and Cree both had RBI doubles and Miller drove in a pair of runs.

After a sea-saw battle through the first three innings, Jr. Wilson 1pulled away by scoring five times in the fifth inning on a string of six singles and a sacrifice fly. Another five run scoring burst in the top of the seventh put a lock on the win.

Rebecca Hucknall, Shardae Hadick and Melissa Olles each had 3 hits for Albion Vets. Hadick and Olles both had RBI doubles.

Jr. Wilson 1 is now 4-3 and Albion Vets 3-4.

Orleans Vets used an error aided three run first inning to take the lead for good against Banes. Two more runs in the third then provided what proved to be the winning tallies.

Kathy Quackenbush had 3 hits and Kristin Guild and Alisha Foss 2 each for Banes which is now 4-4 on the season.

B Division

Jr. Wilson II, Townsend split

Jr. Wilson II split a doubleheader with Erin Townsend Photography in the ‘B’ Division.

Jr. Wilson II won the first game 16-4 as Laura Valley had 2 singles and 2 doubles, Audrey Schalck and Lisa Cox 2 singles and a double and Julie Tette, Jenn Thom, Sari Rupp and Marie Brockway-Grimes 2 singles.

Erin Townsend Photography won the second game 24-15.

Thom had 2 singles and 2 doubles for Jr. Wilson II as Tette, Rachel Preston and Brockway-Grimes each had 3 singles.
