Jr. Wilson 1 hands Banes first loss to tighten ‘A’ League title race; Meadworks wins

The ‘A’ League race really tightened up as Jr. Wilson 1 knocked Banes from the ranks of the undefeated by a score of 14-3 Monday evening in a key Medina Women’s Softball League game.

Jr. Wilson 1 also downed White Birch 16-8 in the opener of the doubleheader.

Jr. Wilson 1 is now 9-2 and Banes 10-1 with one week remaining in the regular season.

Jr. Wilson’s 1 scored three runs in the third, four in the fifth, and seven in the sixth to beat White Birch in game one.

Jessica Rosenbeck had a 3-run home run, Jaclyn Rodriguez and Chasity Chinn each had a triple, and Sharon Korzelius and Haley O’Dell a double. Jodi Zacher, Michele Crandall, and Sara Flansburg all finished with three hits a piece.

The bats stayed hot in game two as Jr. Wilson’s 1 knocked off undefeated Banes to bring them within one game of first place in the A Division standings.

Banes got on the board early on a two run double from Lindsay Chatt in the top of the first.

Jr. Wilson’s answered with four runs in the bottom half of the first on hits from Rodriguez and Flansburg and a two run double from Stormi Kruger.

Jr. Wilson’s added six more runs in the bottom of the second on five singles and a double from Crandall. Kruger, Rosenbeck, Rodriguez and Flansburg all finished with three hits, and Zacher finished with two, including a double.

810 Meadworks/HempHouse defeated NYSCOPBA 12-8 in Medina Women’s Softball League action Monday.

Rallying from an early deficit, 810 Meadworks/HempHouse answered back with runs scored by Melissa Prince, Alishia Foss, and Cathy Schmitt.

NYSCOPBA got a few more runs in the second and third innings but 810 Meadworks/HempHouse was able to pull ahead with hits scoring run from Bridget Tower, Schmitt, Jen Merle, Jayden Townsend and Jean Swiercznski.

810 Meadworks/HempHouse was able to play tight defense the rest of the game to secure the win.

Next week 810 Meadwork/HempHouse plays a double header starting at 6pm at Jr Wilson field 1.
