Anchored by a large group of 11 veterans, the Holley girls varsity soccer team is looking to improve upon last fall’s second place Genesee Region League Division 1 finish.

Coming off an 11-5-2 overall campaign, the Lady Hawks veteran group includes senior Emma Downey, juniors Samantha Bates, Isabella Thom, Jaily Bishop, Emma Brady, Leigha Walker, Caitlin Dobri and Layne Walker along with freshmen Alivia Wolf and Zoey Wolf and eighth grader Mia Thom.

Bates, Isabella Thom and Emma Brady all earned G-R All-Star honors while Bishop, Alivia Wolf and Zoey Wolf were all Honorable Mention selections.

Bates scored 17 goals and Brady 11 while Bishop and Alivia Wolf each netted 6.

“We still have a pretty young team but we have a lot of returners and we’re hoping to do well,” said Coach Renee Wolf. “Our goals are to win the division and go deep into the sectionals.”

Holley will tune up for the G-R season by hosting a tournament next week. Wednesday’s semifinals will have Holley vs. Wilson and Alden vs. Byron-Bergen. The consolation and championship games will be held next Friday (September 2).
