Indians, Cubs win 1-0 youth diamond thrillers
Indians 1, Pirates 0
The Champs Mini Mart Indians handed the Medina Pirates their first loss of the season with a 1-0 win Saturday.
The Indian’s pitching by Luke Duffina and Aidan Papaj quieted the hot bats of the Pirates only allowing 5 hits with no runs.
Lex Gray added 2 outstanding plays to help lead the defensive effort.
Papaj lead the offense going 3-3 with a triple, single, and a walk off long ball into the outfield with 2 runners on which allowed the game winning score in the bottom of the sixth. Gray went 2-3 with 2 singles, Jackson McGrath had a single. Also reaching base was Trey Rhim, Jacob Duffina, and Lukin Szatkowski.
Cubs 1, Orioles 0
The Woodroe Realty Cubs edged the Brushstrokes Orioles 1-0, in a real pitchers duel. Vinny Gray and Briley Allen pitched strong, allowing only one hit.
The only score of the game was delivered by Jude Lacy. Lacy hit a rbi double that scored Briley Allen after he led the inning off with a double as well. Gray contributed a double. Ethan Page and Brennan Allen added singles.
For the Orioles, Kolton Fletcher and Steven Gobeli pitched a great game, scattering five hits and only allowing the one run. William Tagg hit a single for the Orioles.
Mets 18, Red Sox 4
Liam Castricone lead the Mets attack with 2 doubles and a single. Alex Benz and Conner Crandell both had a double and a single. Trey Skinner had a double as well as Justin Pitts, Hunter Stephens, Lukas Grimes and Henrio Winters all had singles.
On the mound, Pitts had 8 strikeouts, Benz 6 strikeouts and Castricone 3 strike outs.
