Huge inning powers Mustangs to win over Purple Eagles
Roy-Hart sweeps pair from CSAT
A marathon 13 run third inning scoring explosion keyed Medina to a 14-10 victory over host Albion this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League baseball game.
Trailing 4-0, Medina moved on top to stay at 13-4 in the decisive third inning which included two-run singles by Lucas Porter and Jared Zinkievich, an RBI single by Alex Allis, 7 walks, 3 errors, a single by Brett Riemer and an RBI sacrifice fly by Justin Morgan.
Allbion did battle back with a five-run fifth inning highlighted by a three-run triple by Nate Moore, an RBI double by Brady Meakin and a run producing single by Jared Fearby but the Purple Eagles would get no closer than 14-10.
The loss drops Albion to 7-2 and a game behind Roy-Hart which improved to 8-1 by sweeping a doubleheader from CSAT by scores of 14-0 and 13-0.
The Purple Eagles also got the bases loaded in both the sixth and seventh innings but managed only a single run during that stretch.
Albion had grabbed the quick 4-0 lead in the first inning on RBI doubles by Evan Pappalardo and Randy Eblacker along with run producing singles by Bryce Pritchard and Kyle Smith.
Allis, Riemer and Brian Fry each had two hits for Medina.
Meakin had three base raps for Albion as Pappalardo, Eblacker, Moore, Smith and Fearby each had two.
Medina is now 4-5 in N-O action.
Roy-Hart 14-13, CSAT 0-0
Roy-Hart got a complete game no hit pitching performance from Charlie Bruning in the first game of the twin bill against CSAT. He struck out 4 as the Rams won 14-0.
Justin Heschke had 3 hits and Brendan Hess and Al Xapsos 2 each to lead the Rams at the plate.
In the second game, Joe Nolan hurled a 2 hitter with 3 strikeouts in six innings of work on the mound as Roy-Hart won 13-0.
Jake Bruning had a two-run single and Ben Maynard an RBI triple to highlight the Rams attack which also included a pair of hits by Andy Xapsos.
Wilson 7, Barker 2
Nick Pawlak hit a three-run homer to highlight Wilson’s (4-4) 7-2 win over Barker (5-4).
Newfane 11, Akron 3
Newfane (1-7) bested Akron (2-7) 11-3 as Will Newton hurled a 3 hitter with 11 strikeouts.
Tyler Jurek led the Panthers at the plate with 3 hits and 4 RBIs.
