Putting together a big second half scoring surge, the host Lady Eagles blanked York 3-0 in the rain this afternoon to capture the Kendall girls soccer tournament championship.

Deadlocked 0-0 at the half, Kendall quickly scored what proved to be the game winning goal just four minutes into the second half as Taylor Rutland tallied off an assist from Taylor ReQua.

Taylor Rutland then gave the Lady Eagles a little breathing room when she scored again midway through the half as Maya Rutland earned the assist.

Eliya Cooper later rounded out the Kendall scoring with a goal with five minutes remaining off an assist from ReQua.

Jenna Jacob made 5 saves to earn the shutout in goal.

ReQua, Taylor Rutland, Maya Rutland, Coralee Freitag and Jenna LoSapio were all named to the All-Tournament team as were Mariah Elsenhimer and Emily Blanchard from Albion which nipped Bishop Kearney 3-2 for third place honors. ReQua also earned the tourney’s MVP award.

Improvng to 5-0, Kendall next hosts rival Holley at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in a Genesee Region League contest.
