Host Hawk matmen place second at tourney

Going 3-1 on the day, the host Hawks placed second today at the annual Holley-Kendall Team Tournament.

Holley-Kendall defeated Campbell-Savona 54-15, Eastridge 48-33 and North Rose-Wolcott 57-18 before dropping a 37-21 decision to tourney champion Greece Storm.

Dawson Custer went 4-0 on the day for the Hawks as Tristyn Moyer, Jayden Pieniaszek, Cade Aina, Jeremy Browe, Dylan Spellan, Frank Flynn and Hunter McLean were all 3-1 and Brandon Gardner and Nathan Silversmith 2-2.

“We wrestled consistent and for a young team I’m pretty pleased with our performance,” said Hawks Coach John Grillo.

Byron-Bergen Tournament

Medina had two second place finishers at the Byron-Bergen Tournament in Rashawn Bloom (99) and Colby Petrie (120) as Elijah Sones (195) added a third place.

In the JV Tourney, Judah Barnum, Connor Miller and Mitchell Silversmith each finished third for the Mustangs.

Albion likewise had a pair of second place finishers in Ben Restivo (182) and Donamic Farley (95). The Purple Eagles also had Preston Flugel place fourth and Tim Wells fifth.

In the JV competition Albion had Antonio Vallejo-Miller finish first, Hunter Albright second, Mitchell Knaak and Mekhi Rivera third and Johnny DePuy fourth.
