Host Purple Eagles win Albion Tourney

Going 12-0 on the day, the host Purple Eagles captured top honors today at the annual Albion Volleyball Tournament.

Albion, which went 8-0 in the preliminary round defeating Lyndonville, Medina, Oakfield-Alabama and Roy-Hart, downed Pembroke 25-15, 25-12 in the semifinals and Newfane 25-12, 25-11 in the championship match.

Newfane outlasted third place Medina 25-23, 16-25, 15-9 in the other semi.

Albion’s Kelsee Soule and Chanyce Powell were both named to the All-Tournament team along with Medina’s Nicole Blount.

Holley outlasted rival Kendall in five sets today in a Genesee Region League match.

Tessa McArthur had 3 kills, Brianna Barker 6 aces and Ava Kohut 7 aces for Holley.

Taylor Kingsbury had 8 spiking kills, Kali Haskins 6 kills and 9 service aces and Sarah Pearson 21 assists and 7 aces for Kendall.
