Hornets top turnover plagued Purple Eagles

Capitalizing on a rash of turnovers, Oakfield-Alabama jumped out to a 16 point first quarter lead in route to posting a 68-41 victory over host Albion this evening in a non league boys basketball game.

The Hornets led 20-4 after the opening quarter and continued to capitalize on Purple Eagles turnovers in the second quarter to up the advantage to 34-14 at the half. The Hornets led 54-26 at the three-quarter mark.

Brayden Smith took game high honors with 18, Kyle Porter added 17 and Noah Currier 12 to lead the offense for Oakfield-Alabama which is now 2-0. Currier had 8 in the first period, Smith 8 in the third and Porter 8 in the fourth.

Aquil Gaffney scored 8, Blake Preston 7 and Amari Jones, John Eibl and Dylan Narburgh 5 each for Albion which is now 0-3.

The Purple Eagles next visit Spencerport at 7 p.m. Wednesday in another non league contest.

Byron-Bergen bested visiting Barker 84-44 in a non league game as Braedyn Chambry scored 22 and David Brumsted 19 to lead the way for the Bees.
