HOLLEY – Breaking away from an early 8-8 tie, Oakfield-Alabama used a quick two touchdown scoring burst late in the first quarter to key a 42-21 victory over Holley this afternoon in the Genesee Region League season finale.

The Hornets capitalized on a long kickoff return and an interception to key the two decisive touchdown drives and open up a 21-8 advantage.

Holley had pulled even at 8-8 on a two-yard touchdown run by quarterback Nick Passarell and a two-point conversion pass from Passarell to Corey Winter.

A 15 yard Passarell to Kevin Avery pass completion down to the Oakfield-Alabama two keyed the short drive which followed a very short Hornets punt.

Holley’s other two touchdowns came in the fourth quarter on a 10 yard run by Avery and a five yard run by Winter as Justin Parker added the extra point kick.

A fumble recovery by Nick Shenck set up the final TD.

Holley finishes the regular season at 0-6, 0-7 overall while Oakfield-Alabama winds up at 3-3, 4-3.

On Friday, Attica defeated Notre Dame 28-14 to force a three-way tie for the G-R title. Attica, Notre Dame and Alexander all wind up at 5-1.
