Hornets score win over visiting Tigers
Moving on top to stay with a big second quarter, Oakfield-Alabama went on to defeat visiting Lyndonville 68-48 this evening in a Genesee Region League boys basketball game.
Trailing 10-9 after one period, Oakfield-Alabama put together a 23-12 scoring surge in the second quarter to take the lead for good by a 32-22 margin at the half. Ryan Cummings scored 10 of his 15 points to lead that Hornets uprising.
Keeping the momentum, the Hornets then outscored the Tigers 20-9 in the third period to extend their advantage to 21, 52-31, at the three-quarter mark. Ryan Emery scored 13 of his game high 26 points, including three threes, to key that surge.
Eric Neace scored 14 and Brandon Schoolcraft 13 to lead Lyndonville. Eddie Schildt added 9, AJ Buckland 6, Nick Hinkson 4 and Paul Kurz 2 for the Tigers.
Oakfield-Alabama improves to 11-8 and Lyndonville slips to 6-11.
