Hornets race to win over Eagles

Exploding for 30 points in the first quarter, Oakfield-Alabama raced away to an 89-55 victory over host Kendall in a Genesee Region League basketball game this afternoon.

Joey Burdick poured in a game high 30 points, including four threes, to spearhead the Hornets attack as Ty Mott added 12, Kameron Cusmano 10 and Travis Wiedrich and Kaden Cusmano 9 each.

Dale Steffen scored 16, Derek Edick and Braxton Zarpentine 12 and Mason Kuhn 9 for Kendall.

Burdick scored 12 and Kameron Cusmano 6 in the opening period to lead the Hornets which set the pace at the outset jumping out to a 30-16 lead.  Kuhn tallied 8 for the Eagles during that stretch.

Continuing to fast breaking a every opportunity, the Hornets roared away to commanding leads of 23 points, 57-34, ,at the half and 34, 85-51, after three quarters.

Kaden Cusmano scored 9, Mott 8 and Burdick 6 in the second period. Burdick then netted 12 in the third quarter as Mott, Kameron Cusmano, Wiedrich and Peyton Yasses each had 4.

Steffen scored 9 in the second period and Edick 9 in the third for the Eagles.

The Hornets improve to 11-4 while the Eagles slip to 2-12.
