Hornets late rally nips Mustangs

A late inning rally earned Oakfield-Alabama a narrow 4-3 win over Medina in a non league game at Vets Park this afternoon.
Trailing 3-2, the Hornets scored the decisive runs on a two-out, two-run error in the sixth inning after three walks had loaded the bases.
Medina had jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning without the benefit of a hit only to see O-A pull even in the top of the third on a wild pitch and a single.
The Mustangs answered right back with a run in the home half of the third on an RBI single by Brody Fry to regain a 3-2 lead but could not cross home plate again. Singles by Aidan Paul and Richard Keppler set up the threat.
Defensively, the Mustangs turned a double play in the top of the seventh from Aiden Papaj at second base to Ryleigh Culver at first.
Medina next visits Albion next Monday in the Niagara-Orleans League season opener.
