Home runs power Rams past Mustangs

Defending champion Roy-Hart used home run power to key a 22-2 romp over Medina this afternoon at Vets Park as the Rams improve to 5-0 in Niagara-Orleans League baseball competition.

Eric Fitch belted a three-run homer in the first inning to put Roy-Hart on top to stay.
Singles by Al Xapsos and Brendan Hess, who both had 3 hits on the day, preceded the blast.

Charlie Bruning then banged out a three-run homer to cap a huge two-out, eight-run scoring explosion in the third inning which ballooned the Rams lead to 12-1.  The decisive uprising also featured back-to-back two-run singles by Jake Stern and Xapsos.

The Rams capped off the big afternoon by scoring 7 times in the seventh highlighted by two-run singles by Charlie Bruning, who also had 3 hits on the day, and Austin Walker and an RBI single by Nick Kubas.

The Roy-Hart offense also included an RBI double by Jake Stern in the second inning, an RBI single by Xapsos in the fourth and n RBI double by Jake Bruning in the fifth.

Medina, which slips to 1-4, scored once in the first as Ricky Pitts tripled and came home on a fielders choice play off the bat of Brian Fry and once in the fourth on a single by Alex Allis.

Cameron Meadows pitched the first 4 innings for the Rams allowing 2 hits and striking out 5.  Jake Bruning came in to hurl the fifth and sixth frames giving up no hits and striking out 4.  Ben Schwab pitched the seventh allowing no hits and striking out 2.

Oakfield-Alabama 4, Holley 3

Patrick Bower had a double and single for Holley in the Hawks 4-3 Genesee Region League loss to Oakfield-Alabama.
