No. 8 Holley upset top seeded host Gananda 7-4 this afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Section V Class CC playoffs.

Breaking away from a 4-4 tie, Holley took the lead for good by scoring three runs in the top of the fifth inning on singles by Zach Vaccarelli, Dylan Hillabush and Josh Porter. A hit by Justin Parker and an error helped to set up the threat.

Porter picked up the win on the mound allowing three hits with eight strikeouts over the first five innings.

Joe DeFelice came on to earn the save striking out five over the last two innings.

DeFelice also led Holley’s 10 hit attack at the plate with three base raps.

Holley will next face the winner of today’s No. 4 Avon vs. No. 5 Cal-Mum game in the semifinals on Tuesday.
