Holley U16 girls gain share of div. lead
Avenging an earlier season loss, Holley nipped front-running visiting Hilton 1-0 Sunday evening to move into a share of first place in the girls U16 Division of the Rochester District Soccer League.
Holley and Hilton are now deadlocked for the division lead at 7-2-2 (23 points) with just one game remaining on the schedule.
A goal by Anne Jewell with 10 minutes to go in the first half provided just enough offense for Holley to claim the win and avenge an early season 4-0 loss to Hilton.
Madison Papaj earned the shutout in goal as the Holley defense was also anchored by Heather Winkley, Jewell, Mikala Smith and Julia Smith.
Holley will now close out the season by hosting Honeoye Falls at 6:30 this evening while Hilton will wrap up the campaign against the runner-up Churchville Monarchs on Wednesday. Holley lost to Honeoye earlier in the season 2-1.
