Holley downs Wellsville in football opener
A big second half scoring surge earned Holley a 30-14 victory over host Wellsville this evening in the season opening 8 man football game for both teams.
Trailing 14-8 at the half, the Hawks rallied to outscore the Lions 24-0 in the second half.
“I was very disappointed in the way we executed in the first half so I challenged them at halftime and they responded,” said Coach Wil Prince.
Holley regained the lead for good at 16-14 when Tony Geska scored on a 10 yard touchdown run and quarterback Destin Kuyal added a two point conversion carry to cap off the opening drive in the second half.
Geska had a total of three scores on the evening including TD runs of 35 and 45 yards.
Hunter Smith also scored on a 2 yard TD run and Kuyal had a two-point conversion pass to Zach Milner.
On defense, Deska had 15 tackles, Frank Galisano 2 sacks and Kuyal an interception.
Holley next visits Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls on Friday evening.
