Holley scores wild soccer win over Kendall

In a wild finish which saw each team score two goals in the final hectic nine minutes, host Holley emerged with a thrilling 3-2 victory over rival Kendal this evening in a Genesee Region League boys soccer game.

Trailing 1-0, Kendall pulled even on a goal by Dale Steffen off an assist from Tory Raufeisen with 9:44 which ignited that late scoring barrage.

The Eagles then grabbed a 2-1 lead when Jacob Esposito scored with 6:34 remaining off an assist from Steffen.

However, Holley came battling back to retie the suddenly free scoring contest on a goal by Kayden Servais on a breakaway with 3:13 to go.

The Hawks then netted the game winner when Kohl Morgan scored on a penalty kick with just 2:03 remaining. (Click here to see Morgan’s game-winning goal.)

“I’m really proud of the way they fought back,” said Holley Coach Josh Carpenter. “As long as there is time on the clock you have a chance and we got it done.”

Before that wild finish the only score during the game’s first 71 minutes was scored by Holley’s Nathan Nothnagle off an assist from Carson Major with 6:42 remaining in the first half.

The victory keeps Holley undefeated in G-R action at 4-0 while Kendall is at 1-2-1.

Holley’s Bradley Kingdollar is sandwiched between Kendall’s Brian Shaw and Hayden VanDusen while trying to move the ball up field.
