Holley posts win over Byron-Bergen; Kendall and Lyndonville bow
Holley used a big third quarter scoring surge to key a 64-49 victory over visiting Byron-Bergen in a Genesee Region League boys basketball game this evening as the Hawks avenged an earlier season three point loss to the Bees.
Leading by a narrow 26-20 margin at the half, Holley used a 25-12 third quarter scoring edge to open up a commanding 51-32 lead going into the final quarter.
Destin Kuyal led that uprising with 19 including a pair of threes and a three-point play.
Kuyal finished with 30 as Vinny Golisano had 16 and Josh Silpoch 9.
Golisano scored 10 in the second period capped off by a last second three which gave the Hawks a six point lead at the break.
Holley is now 7-6 in the league and 8-9 overall.
Alexander 87, Kendall 51
Steadily pulling away, Alexander posted an 87-51 win over visiting Kendall in another G-R contest.
Dylan Pohl scored 25, Damien Hale 24 and Jacob Brooks 13 to spearhead the Alexander attack.
William Kludt scored 16 and Jonas Rhodes 13 to lead Kendall as CJ D’Agostino added 8, Jonny Conte and Vinnie D’Agostino 6 and Noah Morehouse 2.
Alexander jumped out to a 23-10 first quarter lead as Pohl scored 9 and Anthony Pellegrino and Austin Wakefield both hit a three.
The Trojans extended their advantage to 19, 37-18, at the half as Hale scored 11, including three threes, and Pohl 8 in the second quarter.
Alexander maintained a 20 point, 58-38, lead at the three-quarter mark as Brooks scored 7 and Pohl 6 in the third period.
Alexander improves to 15-4 while Kendall slips to 6-11.
Oakfield-Alabama 78, Lyndonville 38
Building up a 43-19 half-time advantage, Oakfield-Alabama went on to down host Lyndonville 78-38 in another G-R contest.
Avery Watterson scored 22 and Gavin Armbrewster 14 to lead the offense for the Hornets which improve to 10-8.
Colton Smith scored 10, Lane Woodworth and Juan Alberdi 7, Quincy McClinsey and Jacob Pitcher 6 and Atticus Mank 2 for Lyndonville.
G-R Girls Basketball
Pembroke 42, Holley 35
Onolee Easterbrook had 10 points and 12 rebounds, Seneca Calderon 10 points and 9 rebounds and Jayden Hootman 9 points and 7 rebounds to lead Pembroke to a 42-35 win over Holley in a G-R League girls basketball game.
Hanna Ostrom had 11 points and 6 rebounds, Desiree McCormack 11 points and 14 rebounds and Alivia Wolf 9 points and 6 rebounds for Holley.
