Holley nips Geneseo to gain C1 semifinals

For the second playoff game in a row Holley made a lone goal stand up for a narrow victory as the No. 4 Hawks nipped visiting No. 5 Geneseo 1-0 this evening in the quarterfinal round of the Section V Class C1 boys soccer playoffs.

Senior defender Chris Balys scored his second goal of the season early in the second half, off Derek McArthur’s team leading 14th assist of the season, to provide the margin of victory for the Hawks.

Patrick Bower earned the shutout in goal.

Improving to 13-2-3, Holley next faces top seeded World of Inquiry of Rochester in the semifinals on Wednesday. World of Inquiry nipped North Rose-Wolcott 1-0 in the quarterfinals.
