Holley matmen win thriller to lock up G-R title
Making a successful title defense with an exciting road victory, Holley edged past host Alexander 35-33 this evening in a key battle of unbeatens to lock up the Genesee Region League wrestling championship.
A first period pin by Camron Thorn and a technical fall victory by Martin Beadle led the way for Holley which also got a key two point overtime win by Ryan Camacho and a clutch two point decision win by Issac Miller.
“With only 5 of 15 starters back this team has really showed a lot of character and a lot of persistence all year long and defied the odds to win another G-R title,” said Hawks coach John Grillo.
Holley finishes the regular season at 8-0 and Alexander at 7-1.
