Holley matmen edge Byron-Bergen

Coming from behind, undefeated Holley took five of the last six bouts to out dual Byron-Bergen 42-29 this evening in a key Genesee Region League wrestling match.

Trailing 23-15, Holley used back-to-back pins by Martin Beadle (138) and Ryan Camacho (145) to regain the lead for good at 27-23.

Kevin Avery (152) followed up with a decision win and two bouts later David Weaver (170) registered a pin to put a lock on the victory for the Hawks at 36-29 with just one bout to go.

Keeping the momentum, Cameron Thorn (180) then capped off the victory for Holley with another pin.

Earlier in the match, the Hawks got decision wins by Jake Bailey (220), Brandon Morrell (99) and Nick Shenk (120) along with a pin by Lucas Silvis (285).

Steve Underhill (106) registered pin for Byron-Bergen which also got a decision win by Alan White who is a transfer from Holley.

The victory boosts Holley’s record to 6-0 while Byron-Bergen slips to 3-3.

Holley next competes in the Gary Gross Memorial Medina Tournament on Saturday.
