Holley man was killed in accident on Route 63 in Shelby on Saturday

SHELBY – State Police this morning have released the name of a Holley man who died in an accident on Saturday on Route 63.

Gordon H. Tooley, 73, was pronounced dead at the scene. His pickup truck was struck by a U-Haul that was southbound and crossed the center line at about 11:30 a.m., State Police said.

Charles L. Stevens, 80, of Black River, was driving the U-Haul. He and his passenger, Jeffrey S. Johnson, 57, of Carthage, were pronounced dead at the scene. They are from near Watertown.

Both vehicles left the roadway and were consumed by fire.

This is still an ongoing investigation, State Police said.

State Police didn’t release Tooley’s name until this morning. He owned the Holley Hotel.
