Holley-Kendall wrestlers begin a new era

It’s a new era for the Holley-Kendall wrestling program as Holley graduates Mike Silvis and Lucas Silvis have taken over the coaching helm following the retirement of long time Hawks Coach John Grillo at the end of last season.

“We’re excited and really looking forward to the season,” said Lucas Silvis who will be coaching the JV team while Mike Silvis guides the varsity team.

Leading the team will be the senior trio of Tristyn Moyer, Dawson Custer and Jayden Pieniaszek.  Moyer went 33-7 last season, Custer 31-13 and Pieniaszek 32-7.

The Hawks also return veterans David Farruggia and Jacob Affronti, both juniors, along with sophomore Dylan Clemons and freshman Bruce Rasmusson. who went 33-7 last season.

The Hawks will open the season by hosting their annual Team Tournament on December 7.

January: 7 – Byron-Bergen, 6 p.m.; 11 – at Eastridge Tournament; 14 – at Lyndonville, 6 p.m.; 16 – Newfane (at Kendall), 6 p.m.; 18 – at Cal-Mum Tournament; 26 – at Roy-Hart/Barker, 6 p.m; 25 – at Medina Tournament, 28 – Brighton (at Kendall), 6 p.m.; 30 – Wilson, 6 p.m.
