Holley High track coach inducted into Section V Hall of Fame

Holley Central School District’s track and field coach, Art Goldstein of Batavia, was recently inducted into the Section V Track and Field Hall of Fame.

An induction ceremony took place on May 30 during the Section V Track and Field State Qualifier meet at Eastridge High School in Rochester. Goldstein was one of seven people who were nominated for induction and selected by a panel of judges. Other Hall of Fame inductees include area coaches and athletes.

“I thank the athletes for this great honor,” said Goldstein. “It is their performance, effort and loyalty that is responsible for the successful career I have enjoyed.”

Goldstein’s coaching career has spanned more than 33 years, including many years teaching and coaching at Oakfield-Alabama. He has been coaching at Holley for the last six years.

Goldstein’s career accomplishments include records of 214-30 for boys track, 157-81 for girls track, 303-31 for boys cross country and 126-113 for girls cross country.

His track teams won 22 boys Genesee Region titles and 11 girls Genesee Region titles. His boys also won 18 cross country/Genesee Region-Livingston County titles.

In his career, the boy’s teams have earned three Sectional track titles, two Sectional indoor track titles and six Sectional cross country titles. The girl’s teams won one Sectional track title.

“Art is extremely deserving of this award as he is an outstanding coach and a true gentleman,” said Holley’s District Superintendent Robert D’Angelo. “We are fortunate to have him as a track coach in Holley.”
