Holley Hawks win tourney opener

Jumping out to a 3-0 half-time advantage, the host Hawks went on to defeat Roy-Hart 3-0 this evening in the semifinals of the Holley Soccer Tournament.

Holley will face Newfane, a 3-1 victor over Batavia in the other semi, in the championship game at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Roy-Hart will meet Batavia in the consolation contest at 4:30 p.m.

Jon Bower opened the scoring for Holley with a goal off an assist from Gabriel Mendoza.

That duo then reversed roles as Mendoza tallied from Bower to make it 2-0.

The Hawks advantage jumped to 3-0 before the half as Tyler Chmylak scored off an assist from Mendoza.

Patrick Bower earned the shutout in goal for the Hawks making two saves.

Newfane 3, Batavia 1
All of the scoring came in the first half as Newfane got two goals from Chad Gilson and one by Trevor Moreland to key the 3-1 win over Batavia.
