Holley grad helps North Country CC cagers earn national ranking

Holley High graduate Nicole Blackburn, who has earned the starting center position as a freshmen, has helped the North Country Community College women’s basketball team rattle off seven straight wins to open the season and earn a first ever national ranking.

Blackburn, a Health Sciences major, is averaging 3.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game for the 7-0 Saints who are ranked No. 7 nationally in National Junior College Athletic Association Division III.

North Country next faces Onondaga Community College, which is ranked No. 3 in the nation and No. 1 in Region III, on Saturday in Syracuse.

Urbanik to play baseball at Post University
Lyndonville High graduate Ken Urbanik has enrolled at Post University in Waterbury, Conn. and will play baseball for the Division II school.

Urbanik, who will play in the outfield, played last year at Finger Lakes Community College.

Post plays in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, a wood bat league.
