Two key senior members of Holley’s championship baseball team, Joe DeFelice and Josh Porter, have signed to continue their education and baseball careers at Genesee Community College.

DeFelice, who started at shortstop, and Porter, who manned the catcher’s position, helped Holley capture both the Genesee Region League Division 1 and Section V Class CC championships this spring as the Hawks compiled an 18-5 record.

“It’s exciting for them and I think they will both do very well,” said Holley baseball Coach Jason Cole. “Josh is a very good pitcher and that is his favorite position but we needed him to catch this season so it will be great for him now to have the opportunity to play at the position he loves. And Joe did a great job for us at shortstop so it will be fun to see him really blossom as an infielder.”

DeFelice hit .474 with 9 doubles, 5 triples, 21 RBIs and 27 runs scored for the Hawks this season. He also compiled a 6-0 record on the mound with a 1.40 earned run average.

Porter hit .378 with 5 doubles, 14 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

It marks the second year in a row that the GCC baseball program has signed a pair of local teammates. Last year the Cougars signed the Albion duo of pitcher Connor Barleben and catcher John Warne who were both regulars in the GCC lineup this spring.
