Holley completes sweep of Mt. Morris

Completing a home and home season series sweep, Holley downed visiting Mt. Morris 62-53 in a non league game this evening.

Trailing by 12, 35-23, at the half, Holley came battling back with a big 20-6 third period scoring surge to rally into a 43-41 lead. Broek Ostrom scored 12 to lead that rally.

Keeping the momentum, the Hawks then used a 19-12 fourth period scoring edge to put a lock on the win. Ostrom scored 8, James Tette 6 and Erik Lang 5 during that stretch.

“It was a real team win. They really stepped it up in the second half,” said Hawks Coach Wil Prince who also cited the strong defensive effort of Mason Neale who held Mt. Morris’ Stephen Somers to just two points over the final three periods.

Ostrom finished with a game high 33 and Lang 14.

Somers scored 17 to lead Mt. Morris. He netted 15 in the opening period as the Blue Devils jumped out to a 22-13 lead. However, he tallied only two the rest of the way.

“Mason really did a great job defensively on him,” said Prince.

Elba 62, Kendall 51.

Breaking away from a 27-27 half-time deadlock, Elba used a 17-8 third period scoring edge to key a 62-51 G-R win over Kendall.

Connor Scott scored 20, CJ Cottler 15 and Zach Marsceoill 11 to lead Elba.

Zach Barrett had 17 points, including five threes, along with 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and Louie Conte 16 points and 8 rebounds to lead Kendall.

Wilson 42, Albion 32
Wilson bested host Albion 42-32 in a Niagara-Orleans League wrestling match.

Dayne Aina had a pin, Andrew Uderitz a technical fall win and Ellwood Hafner a decision win for the Purple Eagles whose other 18 points came via three forfeits.

Girls Basketball

Defending champion Wilson improved to 5-0 in Niagara-Orleans League action by posting a 49-15 win over rival Newfane which slips to 3-1.

Bella Lemke scored 13 and Peyton McInnis 8 to lead Wilson.
