Holley booters rally past Batavia

Rebounding from an early 1-0 deficit, Holley rallied to defeat visiting Batavia 3-1 this evening in the Hawks non league season opening boys soccer game.

Batavia jumped out to the 1-0 lead when Matt Grover scored with 23 minutes to go in the first half.

Holley though battled back to knot the contest with just six seconds remaining in the opening half when Kohl Morgan scored off an assist from Matt Wilson.

Keeping the momentum, Holley then controlled play through most of the second half scoring a pair of unanswered goals to clam the victory.

The Hawks took the lead for good when Erik Balys scored with 8:40 remaining off a scramble as Wilson again earned the assist.

John Mounts then capped off the victory for Holley when he scored with only 39 seconds remaining.

Defensively, Brett Baxter made a couple of key saves in goal for the Hawks in the second half.

Holley next opens the Genesee Region League season at Pembroke on Thursday.
