Holley, Roy-Hart girls win sectional openers
Holley and Roy-Hart both scored victories in girls soccer sectional quarterfinal round contests this evening.
Top seeded Holley defeated visiting No. 8 Red Creek 4-0 in a Section V Class C1 quarterfinal to improve to 14-3 on the season.
Sam Bates scored 3 goals and Alexia Renner 1 for the Lady Hawks as Leigha Walker, Bella Thom, Alivia Wolf and Hanna Ostrom all had assists.
Layne Walker made 2 saves to earn the shutout in goal.
Holley will now face No. 4 Bloomfield in the semifinals on Tuesday at a site to be determined. Bloomfield downed No. 12 Warsaw 2-1.
No. 3 seed Roy-Hart romped past visiting No. 6 Salamanca 7-1 in a Section VI Class B2 quarterfinal.
Kaitlin Mettler scored 4 goals for the Lady Rams as Maria Trombley, Ruth Walker and Allie Trombley each netted 1.
Roy-Hart will next face No. 2 Southwestern in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Williamsville North. Southwestern downed No. 7 Newfane 5-0.
In a Section VI Class B1 quarterfinal top seeded East Aurora downed visiting No. 8 Medina 11-0.
