Holley, Albion bow in softball

Jumping out to an early 3-0 lead, Byron-Bergen went on to defeat host Holley 11-0 this afternoon in a Genesee Region League softball game.

Sarah Wharram and Bailey Papaj had the only hits for Holley. Wharram also registered four strikeouts in the circle.

Albion likewise lost its home opener as the Purple Eagles dropped a narrow 9-8 decision to CSAT in a Niagara-Orleans League contest.

Kelsee Soule had four hits, including a double and two RBIs as Meghan Hurley, Andrea Aman and Kelsey Schmitt each had two hits for Albion. Hurley’s hits included a double.

CSAT scored twice in the top of the seventh on two walks and an error for the margin of victory.

Albion did answer with one run in the bottom of the seventh but the Purple Eagles left the bases loaded.

Barker 8, Newfane 4
Barker boosted its N-O record to 2-1 with an 8-4 win over Newfane as Kelsey Blackley hurled a five hitter with 10 strikeouts.

Blackley also helped her own cause at the plate by banging out a two-run double which highlighted a four run second inning.

Gaby Sinnett and Olivia Littman each had two hits for Newfane.
