Highlights from the big rivalry game
Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Following Albion’s win over rival Medina/Lyndonville/Barker this evening, Purple Eagle team captains, from left, Brillance Johnson, Deyonci Farley, Cody Wilson and Michael DiCureia accept the “Doc’s Rock” trophy. The trophy is given annually to the victor in memory of Larry “Doc” Decker who coached and taught in both districts. Presenting the award were his son Brett, at left, and his wife Judy, at right.
Albion quarterback Thomas Furmanski and Medina/Lyndonville/Barker running back Bobby Geiger were presented with the Jeff Evoy Memorial Sportsmanship awards. The awards are given in memory of Evoy who was a teacher and coach at Albion and an administrator and superintendent at Medina. Presenting the awards were his daughter Kelsey and his wife Maureen.
