High winds take down many trees

Several trees have toppled from the high winds in Orleans County this evening.

Orleans County dispatch reports that trees have fallen in the following locations: 11380 Main St. in Shelby, blocking both lanes; 2558 Peter Smith Rd. in Murray, blocking southbound lane; 15320 Roosevelt Highway in Carlton (between East Kent and Carr roads); 17120 Ridge Rd. in Murray between Hurd Road and the Monroe-Orleans Countyline Road, blocking eastbound lane; 4868 East Shelby Rd. in Shelby (between Martin and Wheeler roads); and 3588 North Main Street Rd. in Murray (between Telegraph Road and the canal).

A high wind warning remains in effect for Orleans County until 7 a.m. on Thursday.

(Updated 10:08 p.m.: Additionally a pole fell and took down wires at 3008 Crandall Rd. in Gaines (between Ridge and Zig Zag roads); a tree also came down 17160 LaDue Rd. in Clarendon, blocking both lanes between Wood Road and the Monroe County line.; a tree is down at 524 Davis Ave. in Medina between West Center Street and Park Avenue; and a tree was toppled at 4646 Hurd Rd. in Clarendon between Fourth Section Road and Elizabeth Drive.)
